In March 2023, Asia IP announced Copyrights Rankings for their regional constituency in Asia. Domnern Somgiat & Boonma (DS&B) was proud to be ranked as Top Tier in Thailand for Copyright. And, with this Award, the firm has now achieved Asia IP 2023 Top Tier Thailand Rankings for – Patent / Contentious and Prosecution; Trademark / Contentious and Prosecution, and for Copyright.

On 10 March 2023, the State Administration Council issued Notification No. 82/2023, declaring 1 April 2023, as the effective date for the much-anticipated Trademark Law. Enacted in 2019, this law is set to bring a new era of trademark protection to the country, providing trademark owners with a well-structured registration process in line with international standards.

On February 23, 2023, Domnern Somgiat & Boonma (DS&B), represented by Nutthakarn Phongphunpunya, attended a press conference held by the Customs Department regarding the seizure of a large number of counterfeit trademark goods. Mr. Phantong Loykulnanta, Deputy Director-General of the Customs Department, announced that the authorities had raided warehouses in Samut Sakhon Province and seized counterfeit garments, bags, and shoes of many brands that had been imported from other countries without certificates of origin or customs clearance.

Effective as of January 3, 2023, Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (the “DIP”) issued a Notification regarding the First Notification of the Trademark Examination Result in the Case of Necessity for Urgent Use of the Trademarks of 2023 (the “Notification”)
