It has been announced in the press conference of 11 February 2026 by the Customs Department, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, and Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property that the authorities had jointly taken actions to seize more than 40,000 counterfeits with the value of more than THB 237 million (approximately USD 7.6 million)
These products are from six major raids conducted jointly by the three authorities from 13 January to 6 February 2026 in Bangkok and border provinces. These cover a wide variety of goods, including 37,700 garments, 2,400 brake pads, 1,800 bags, and 595 shock absorbers, smuggled into Thailand by land and sea. In addition to infringement against famous marks of various brand owners worldwide (e.g. POLO, HUGO BOSS, and PUMA), these products also violate other criminal provisions under the customs laws and the industrial standard laws, especially declaration of false origin, improper customs clearances, and non-compliance with mandatory industrial standards. Hence, such counterfeit items pose not only economic risks to legitimate businesses but also potential safety hazards to consumers as well as general public. The authorities have continued to exercise their best joint efforts to enforce all possible provisions for suppression of these illegal activities.
Since we actively coordinated with the Customs Department for multiple clients in those raids, we were honored to be invited to witness this success at the press conference.
As part of the enforcement process, DS&B plays a vital role in coordinating and cooperating with the authorities to ensure smooth and timely prosecution with the aim that the infringers are fully penalized and the infringing items are destroyed. Our collaboration helps safeguard both the rights of IP holders and the integrity of the market.
To strengthen border enforcement, trademark and copyright owners are strongly encouraged to record their rights with the Customs Department. This will facilitate Customs officers’ inspection and seizure of suspicious shipments. This also solves the infringement problem at its cause by preventing counterfeits from entering into Thailand since the beginning.
Protecting intellectual property rights requires strategic planning. DS&B provides comprehensive advisory and enforcement services to help rights holders navigate Thailand’s regulatory framework with confidence.
