In January 2022, the Department of Intellectual Property introduced the new trademark examination guideline to improve the examination standard in line with the precedents from the Trademark Board and the Courts as well as the intentional practices.

The Bill of the first trademark law of Myanmar was signed into law in January 2019 but has not yet come into force. With an aim to facilitate a smooth transition from the first-to-use to first-to-file system
