On 27 May 2026, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) organized an event titled “Lessons from Experience in the Fight Against IP Infringement.” This was a follow-up to “DSI Connect 2026,” focused specifically on IP offenses Private sector partners, 11 firms in total, including Domnern Somgiat & Boonma Law Office, were invited to join forces in strengthening collaboration on special IP infringement cases.

The event itself was a meaningful gathering. Representatives from both the public and private sectors came together not just to exchange information, but also to establish the clearer workflow to smooth the process.

During the event, we had the opportunity to present and exchange information regarding our clients, their intellectual property, and their primary objectives with the authorities, allowing the officers to better understand and familiarize themselves with our clients’ business nature and IP assets. This was particularly valuable because enforcement is always more effective when the authorities have a clearer picture of what they are protecting and why it matters.

As the conclusion of the event, we were invited to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the DSI, the purpose is to establish clearer operational practices and improve the overall effectiveness of collaboration. A key theme was streamlining steps and procedures to be more transparent, time-efficient, and free from unnecessary bureaucratic requirements. This would lead to seamless coordination between the officers and the IP owners, from initial reporting through to investigation and enforcement action.

With our longstanding collaboration with the DSI, DS&B is fully committed to this MOU and will continue working closely with the authorities to ensure that our clients’ intellectual property rights are thoroughly protected. The initiatives of this MOU are a positive and strong sign that both the public and private sectors are serious about strengthening IP enforcement further.
