Profile:
Marisa has more than 20 years of experience in the patent field stating as a patent examiner at the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) for biotechnology-related inventions since October 1998. Later in January 2000, Marisa joined Domnern Somgiat & Boonma as a Patent Scientist. Based on her direct experience as an examiner, she could help her clients prepare proper responses to the official actions in accordance with the DIP’s practices. She also assisted her clients in conducting patent searches, drafting patent applications and providing opposition opinions. With an academic background in biotechnology, Marisa gained her specialty in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry, as well as pharmaceutical patents.
Marisa joined Chavalit and Associates Limited (CA) – SCL Law group as Patent Agent from February 2011 to August 2015. There, Marisa broadened her practice by handling the entire patent prosecutions for her clients. Marisa also managed and assisted with other tasks, which include reviewing all the filing particulars of patent applications, providing advice on the patentability of the inventions, and preparing many search reports as well as patent mapping.
Back to Domnern Somgiat and Boonma this time, she has largely expanded her scope of work beyond Thailand to foreign countries. She regularly coordinates and cooperates with foreign agents to help her clients deal with various IPO’s worldwide, including USPTO, JPO, IPOS and EUIPO. Recently, Marisa files oversea patent applications, National Phase (PCT) applications, third party observations, oppositions, and invalidations for clients.
