Domnern Somgiat & Boonma (DS&B) was honored to participate in the Workshop on Effective Practices in Investigation and Enforcement Against Content Piracy 2024, jointly organized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the ASEAN Secretariat, and the ASEAN IP Academy. The workshop provided specialized training for government officials across ASEAN, with this year’s session attended by approximately 50 participants from nine countries, including public prosecutors, IP officers, investigators, and law enforcement personnel.
Our partner, Nathapong Tongkaew, was invited to deliver a session on “Private Practitioner Perspectives on Trends and Challenges in Civil and Criminal Enforcement.” During his insightful presentation, Nathapong discussed global legal trends and their implications for copyright enforcement, particularly in the realm of digital content. Notably, he emphasized the importance of leveraging multiple legal frameworks beyond traditional IP laws, including computer crime legislation, consumer protection regulations, and digital platform laws, to effectively combat infringement.
DS&B recognizes that successful anti-piracy efforts require collaboration among all stakeholders in the IP ecosystem. Our participation in this workshop demonstrates our commitment to supporting regional enforcement initiatives and sharing practical insights from our extensive experience in IP protection and enforcement.
