Layout Designs (Topographies) of Integrated Circuits
Thailand has a law on the protection of layout designs (topographies) of integreated circuits. The law is fully compliant with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs). It requires registration in Thailand as a condition of protection. The term of protection is 10 years from the date of application for registration or the date of first commercial exploitation, whichever comes first, whether in Thailand or abroad. In any case, protection shall lapse 15 years after the creation of the layout design.

Under the law, the following acts are deemed unlawful if done without the anthorization of the right holder: reproducing a protected layout design, importing, selling or otherwise distributing for commercial purposes a protected layout design, an integrated circuit in which a protected layout design is incorporated or a product incorporating such an integrated circuit only insofar as it continues to contain an unlawful reproduced layout design.

Thailand is not a member of the Treaty on intellectual Property in Respect of Integrated Circuits (the Washington Treaty).
